Jonna Hoey is a maker and modern artist who works from her home in the Gold Coast Hinterland. Originally from England, she grew up close to London where she learnt from an early age how to sew. Jo who was taught by her mum, continued to develop her craft over time. At the age of 21 she moved to Australia and has lived here happily ever since.
As a child of the 70's, Joanna has a love for all things kitschy and nostalgic. Jo see's real beauty in the fabrics, fibres and flower power prints from this era and feels a deep connection to macrame and weaving. Joanna is conscious that the art of sewing, weaving and macrame have until very recently all but died out.
Jo loves teaching and regularly runs workshops and is establishing a range of tutorials on reviving vintage crafts, fabrics and patterns. Jo also makes and sells homewares using up-cycled and repurposed vintage fabrics that she has collected over the years.
We love Jo's range of beautifully crafted items and know that you will too.
