The sights and sounds of South America are so vivid. Artisans are everywhere you look, weaving, painting, and sewing beautiful items...crafting is such an integral part of the culture. The colours pop out at every turn and you can't help but smile everywhere you go.
Caxixi (pronounced ka-shee-shee) rattles are beautifully woven, small, hand percussion instruments that can be found in Africa and South America. These simple rattles have a flat piece on the bottom originally made from a dried gourd. The rest of the rattle is a woven “basket” that holds small items which create the sound when it is shaken. The basket area is made of pliable fibre and can be one colour or beautiful patterns of colours woven together. These three colourful handmade South American Percussion shakers, Caxixis or maracas are designed to inspire the imagination.
We love presenting these Caxixi rattles on coffee tables or shelves for a little decorative colour and musical inspiration for guests. Perfect in a child's room or living area.
We hope you love them as much as we do.
